I only had two backs left after graduation this past season. Planned on using them as a one-two punch this coming season but just got an e-mail from the senior back saying he is leaving because of low playing time and he is no longer on my roster. Now I have to use a freshman as a backup next year. How long has this been a thing? Im a little disappointed as I would have given him a little more time if I knew about this.

This happened at D2? Wow, never seen that before. I remember early days of the game players would leave in D1.

Yep! The first time I’ve seen it but haven’t been around too long. Not sure how much playing time to give to prevent it. Stuck with one back now.

He said he had a year of eligibility left and was taking another opportunity elsewhere. LOL. Did get the scholly back.

I had that happen in d2 also not to long ago. I just took over a school and the RS Jr qb left a year early for same reason.

So it sounds like a specific situation that we probably don’t run into very often. Mine was an RS senior. I mean it’s pretty realistic in this day and age of college football. Next man up! Thanks for your responses! Good luck on the recruiting trail!

I lost a QB like this a season ago with one of my teams. Either one of my 3 Elites or one of my 2 Arizona State teams. He was going to be a RS JR or SR. Hadn't really played.
Was the first time in years since I've lost someone.

I had hardly played him either. Was a great looking back but was third stringer and didn’t get any time. Has better backs in the class ahead of him and behind him, Glad to know I’m not the only one. Just learned something new about the game.
