In my second year at Brown. We inherited some experienced talent but lost it to graduation. I had a top 15 recruit class but we have problems with the sophomore class especially. Four point guards, each with glaring issues of one sort or another. For instance, my only player with BH and P that I like is unplayable due to A 45 and D of 34! So we have these other guys. Who plays? And why?

Grill is the guy I have rated the highest. He is bad on Def and passing, but still overall better than the other guys due to his BH and speed.

Mello might be another option if you want more defense.

Barns would be an option too if the backup PG on the other team is not a scorer and you need some points off the bench.

ignore class rankings they are irrelevant they literally dont account for potential lol

unfortunately none of those PGs are winning caliber at D1 especially a zone defense

I'd continue running Grill hes the least worst of them all and at least gives you spd/bh/st at a strongish level considering the ath/def impact so hes easily the best option imo

I'd play Mello at SG when the CT starts and you dont need to start your fr. in the meantime he should be the primary backup until then

With Barns as the 3rd string backup PG but slowdown zone to minimize how often he ever has to touch the court and pray Grills+Mello keeps Barns off the court as much as possible and then he will naturally play a tad more if when Mello goes to the starting SG spot which is just something you have to deal with since half the team is leftover from the previous coach who left 2 good players still on the roster

thats not how zone works. the positional averaging is false from what seble said

the positions have different equations that are ther same for certain positions based on 3-2 or 2-3 but the average is done with all 5 players after they go throught their zone equation.

3-2 has 2 different equations pg/sg/sf and pf/c but pg/sg/sf are not averaged together all 5 are averaged together

2-3 has 3 pg/sg sf/pf and c again the final defensive value (before positioning etc) is an average of all 5 players.

the hiding players and averaging is a common myth that seble dispelled in like 2018 or 2020 you aren't hiding him in a 3-2 you are just running him through the 3-2 pg/sg/sf equation and he's just drastically dragging down the team defensive final value because its 1/5th the equation its not him averaged with the sg+sf (and supposedly according to seble [old dev for anyone who doesnt know] the 1 defensive rating is used to defend all 3 types of shots whether its 3 mid range/post)

how in depth his explanation was may varry slightly but it defintely is described differently than that description thats been said incorectly for years
