wasted guard low post ratings Topic

With the last few updates..if a player playing point or shooting guard and has good low post ratings, will they utilize the skill or is it wasted? A driving guard goes to the hoop but does not have back to the basket. Your thoughts on how the current engine uses a guards low post ratings is appreciated. Maybe just set this type of player at Sf, never guard?

I personally think LP in a guard is still very useful.  Here is the starting SG on my D2 team in Crum.  He is shooting over 50% from 2 pt range, and his LP rating is probably part of why.

I should also add that a guard with a good LP rating is FAR more useful if he is also a good FT shooter, as they tend to draw a good number of fouls on drives to the basket.

Your comment about driving is my question..a slasher is not how wis defines low post. They say a player with his back to the basket. Slashing utilizes speed, ath etc but does low post factor in that since they are facing the hoop not away from it.

From the player's guide:

"Low Post (lp): refers to a player's ability to score inside the paint"

Is there somewhere else it mentions back to the basket?

He's a PG with very high LP and has only taken one 3 all season and averages nearly 20 a game while shooting 48% in one of the toughest conferences in HD. LP still matters very much for a guard.

Thank you. Am a returning player and missed a few updates. went back through topics and found a Weena comment " used to mean back to the basket, now it means scoring in the paint." Good luck with your seasons.

I'm salivating over that guy.  But I wonder how much a home visit costs to Ethiopia?

Lol, Funny thing is I lost a battle for him originally but the coach didn't keep the promises so he transferred the next season and immediately put me on his list and I signed him the 2nd time around for $110 :-).

seble was pretty clear about this while he was writing the code for the engine redesign.

LP affects scoring in the paint, PE affects scoring outside the paint.

He said several times not to read any more into it than that.  The engine doesn't distinguish between layups, dunks, jump-hooks, back-to-the-basket shots, etc.  It's all either inside the paint or outside the paint.

I believe he did say that mid-range shots utilized some combination of LP and PE.

And of course don't forget that other rating affect scoring ability besides LP and PE (ATH, SPD, BH at least).

Also I really hope Louisville is sim coached or they are probably kicking themselves big time for that transfer.

Here is another good example: http://www.whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=12063&pid=1694224

this guy scores inside and writes great articles on the NFL every Monday morning.

I agree that LP very much matters for guards.  I've got this guy - www.wisjournal.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Ratings.aspx - shooting 54.6% from inside the arc, and he can still hit the 3 as well.
