I think the BCS should add another BCS bowl game and pit the #1 and #4 teams against each other. Then, in say the Sugar Bowl, pit the #2 and #3 teams against each other. The winner of each could face each other in the BCS National Title Game. The games can be played two weekends before the championship game (I.E. they would have been played Dec. 26-Dec.27 this year).

The BCS system can keep their bowl games while adding a playoff element to it. Sure, there will sure be some arguments about what teams are better, but at least there's some sort of playoff to prove it.

Or even take it one step further, add two more BCS bowl games from what they have now, and pit the top eight teams against each other in a playoff while still keeping the rest of the bowls. Plus, with this way, the only bowl game after the new year would be In that scenerio, we could have something like this if it was played this year:

Bowl Games Start Dec. 12 (Saturday)

1 vs. 8- New Bowl (Friday, Dec. 18- 8:00)

2 vs. 7- New Bowl (Saturday, Dec. 19- 1:00)

3 vs. 6- Fiesta Bowl (Saturday, Dec. 19- 4:30)

4 vs. 5- Orange Bowl (Saturday, Dec. 19- 8:00)

High Seed vs. Low Seed- Rose Bowl (Saturday, Dec. 26- 4:30)

Middle Seed vs. Middle Seed- Sugar Bowl (Saturday, Dec. 26- 8:00)

All Non-BCS Bowl Games End Dec. 31

Championship- BCS National Title Game (Monday, Jan. 4- 8:00)

Or, wait, add 60 BCS games and let everyone in.

This doesn't look extremely different from countless other 8-team playoffs people have come out with.

In the mean time, I'm not saying a playoff wouldn't be exciting, but for the most part the BCS does get the right champion. It did this season.

Even if there were an 8-team or 16-team tourney, there will always be teams crying that they were screwed. Just leave it at the top 4 teams. This year, TCU and Cincinnati would've had the chance to prove themselves.

From the BCS poll, it would've been 'Bama vs. TCU and Texas vs. UC. Winners move on. Would anyone have had a problem with this, seeing as Boise St. was ranked #6 behind Florida in both the BCS and AP polls...?? If anyone thinks BSU deserved a shot over UF, just look at their schedules.

Considering that BSU beat TCU, I would say they certainly deserve a shot.

Here is the crazy part, Alabama and Texas had 32 days between their CCG and the BCS game, now somebody tell me there isn't time to have a 4 or 8 team playoff

From another post:

P.S. - Really slow down on that Boise nonsense!

Exactly. In the final season polls, both the coaches and the writers put them at #4 behind 'Bama, Texas, and Florida...where they belong after playing a weak schedule. Another good season for the Broncos, but beating Bowling Green, UC Davis, San Jose St., La Tech, Idaho, and Utah St. doesn't mean you s/b considered one of the best teams.

I know the Broncos can't help playing in the WAC. For sh*ts and giggles, let's swap them and Baylor from the Big XII. Does anyone not smoking crack still think that Boise St. goes undefeated and is considered one of the top teams? No.

Yes, they beat TCU and Oklahoma in bowl games...when they've had a month to prepare. Put them in the Big XII...Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, Texas, Kansas St, Missouri, Texas Tech week in and week out. How about the ACC? Clemson, Boston College, Florida St., Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Miami (FL) week in and week out. The SEC...Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, Mississippi week in and week out.

Discussion, CLOSED.

All I'm saying is that if they don't have a chance then the big boys shouldn't mind beating them on the field where it matters.

Regardless of who really has a chance to win the national championship, I would love to see a 32 team tournament with each conference champion getting an automatic bid, and use something like the current BCS rankings to determine the at-large bids. I think it would be fun to watch, it would be good for the schools, and it would put an end to the "We deserve to be in the championship" nonsense.

...and would take 5 weeks to play, turning a 12-game season into a 17-week, NFL season.

Top 4, IMO. So what if BSU isn't there this year. Aren't TCU and Cincinnati enough...?

boise is not a powerhouse. they can beat anybody at home, because their uniforms blend in with their turf. they are camouflaged. : )

Rose Bowl committee time and time again have said they would not want their bowl to be relegated to a quarterfinal or semifinal game.

I'm sure the other BCS bowl committees feel the same.

If they are not going to get a break to study for mid-terms, let's just end the ruse that they are student-athletes and compensate them fairly.

The BCS isn't going to do anything that gets away from it's traditional system. The bowls bring in to much money and the people making the big decisions know that they have a money maker by staying at the status quo. I don't agree with the BCS system because I don't believe you can predict who the best teams in the nation are after 15 weeks of football. However, I don't think it's worth anyone's time to debate the issue because I think that nothing is going to change unless college football t.v. ratings go down.

I remember the grand old days of college football before the BCS.. you had a traditional Rose Bowl.. Sugar, etc..

The AP voted on whom they thought was best overall and there was rarely any contraversy .. at least compared to the BCS ones..

There is a reason why the AP requested that their poll no longer be used in the BCS rating and they no longer wanted to be associated with it.

It will happen one of these days where they vote in a #1 that did not play in the BCS champion game.. I could see a Boise St rolling a tough BCS non-con, going undefeated, and beating a BCS undefeated team in the Sugar bowl or something.

I really feel there was a reason why TCU and Boise were matched up together.
