I have interest in a stud SP who was just arb'd for the 3rd time and will be a FA at the end of the season. Would being arb'd 3 times affect his willingness to resign with me and his new team? The answer to that would influence what I am willing to give up for the stud SP. Thanks.

You have to ask the current owner if he will re-sign. That answer will apply to you, too.

I've seen it both ways - often the Arb3 player will re-sign if/when dealt to another team. However, as with many things in this game, I'm not sure what the actual degree of certainty of that happening is.

Yeah, this is one of the trickier scenarios in HBD. You could try to get creative by asking the other owner if he's willing to either a) make an offer based on the assumption that he will re-sign and then reverse the trade if he ends up not wanting to re-sign, or b) make a trade assuming he won't sign with a promise to include other pieces if he does. Okaying it with the commish and world beforehand is probably a good idea.

Then again, that might just be more effort to coordinate/convince then it's worth but if he's a true stud...

This question comes up a lot.
1) The player will almost never re-sign with his current team.
2) Mostly on the Forum I see people claim that it's about 70% chance that the player will re-sign with team he's traded to. I've tried it 2 or 3 times and it's worked favorably every time.

I always assumed the treated them similarly to other expiring contracts with whether or not the player would re-sign driven by patience rating. Is that incorrect?

Not necessarily. Sometimes arbing 3 times doesn't effect the new team. And they may resign.
