International Signings Topic

I apologize if this has been asked before but I have had this happen a few times in my career on here and it is starting to **** me off. I have a habit of signing international free agents and leaving them unassigned for too long that they end up on the waiver wire. Can someone answer why this happens that when I pay a player and he is mine that he gets waived if he isn't assigned to one of my minor league teams quick enough, but scrub draft picks that the sim manager signed when I was on vacation can sit out there unassigned forever? I recently returned from a trip to find these drafted players out there to be assigned along with a couple cheaper international free agents that I had signed. Since the playoffs were beginning for all my minor league teams I didn't have the space to start assigning rookies until they were out of the playoffs. Well that was too long for my two international prospects. The bad part is if they clear waivers they become a free agent that you cannot locate to even resign. Is their anything the site managers can do to get me these players back? Just curious.

players get released if they go unassigned for 10 days.

you're not gonna get them back. try assigning them a bit sooner next time.

with respect to "why" HBD does that, they don't want owners exploiting a loophole where they can have an effectively unlimited roster of players by hoarding them in the unassigned player area

I would think it would make more sense for the players to get assigned to the lowest level team with space available after 10 days.

awesome, real answers to the question and a reason why.

Thanks everyone for the quick response and explanation. I get why they don't want us hoarding players, but why can we have our entire draft class signed and sitting out there as long as we want? Why are the international signings treated differently? That is the frustrating part. Because the SIM manager that I turned on when I went on vacation decided lets sign all the draft players I purposely didn't sign, I am having trouble placing all my players on teams and a few international signings got mixed in a got lost. My plan was to wait until all my teams were done with the playoffs, start promoting players and thus making room on my rookie team to place all these players. The two International players I lost were nothing great, but it is still 800,000 down the tubes. I just want consistentcy. I just needed to vent. Lesson learned.

release the garbage players SIM signed. And draft picks will be released also if they sit unassigned for 10 days.

As to why simmy signed the guys at the end of your draft . . . he'll do that until he has a minimum number of players available to fill your rookie league roster so that it can play games.

What is different about draft picks is when you sign them, Simmy automatically assigns them to Rookie League if there is any room on the roster. After that, they go to unassigned. I agree that it isnt a bad idea if Simmy would automatically assign Internationals there too if roster room exists.

Good stuff guys. Csherwood, the draft picks have been sitting unassigned for a month now so that is not true. Plus I had a couple of draft picks I signed late last season and I never assigned them until this season. So its clearly different between draft picks and international signings.

The other issue is my rookie roster was full when I went on vacation and the sim signed the draft picks I didn't want anyway. I was ticked. Since I now payed for them I figured I would hold onto them and see if I have room or use for any of them on next year's rookie team. I bought the two international signings because I had funds that would be wasted and they were better than most of the players I would draft. So I held onto them until I could make room on the rookie team. That was my mistake for not hiding them away on my low A team as inactive. Its just that you have to pay more salary to put them at a higher level than you intend to use them in. I hope all of this is making some sense.

Your version is not what is supposed to happen. If you're 100% sure those are the facts, send a ticket.

I'm not even sure SIMMY will sign draft picks if set on auto.

This version is 100% true. I went on vacation in the beginning of September and set my team on auto since I didn't know how often I would be able to get online and the first time I was able to in the middle of the trip I see all these players in my unassigned box. LOL. I was in the same mindset as the others responding on this forum that the sim would only sign players if you were short on your rookie team. We had that happen to a couple teams in our league. One that abandoned his team and another that had run out of money.

I have never put in a ticket. Do you just go to customer support or is there somewhere else? Thanks again everyone.

I put in a ticket to find out why the auto manger signed those players even though my rookie roster was full and I also asked why the difference between draft picks and international signings for the length of time they can be unassigned. I will post their response when I get one if anyone else is interested at all.
