Halftime Adjustment Topic

Relative newcomer. Have lost a few leads. Wonder if Defensive Halftime Adjustment setting has anything to do with it. For example, I see teams that start against me @ 0 then are @ -2 in the second half. Any thoughts about whether to use the Halftime Adjustment setting for defense and, if so, which setting. I assume the SIM will not switch your team to a D it sucks at, so were really just talking about positioning.

I recommend using it. But remember it looks at 1st half stats, NOT ratings. For ex., If your avg on def - your set to "0" - the other team is leading all of Div I in 3FG attempts and 3FG% - but in your game the other team is unlucky (it could happen!) and shoot 1 fer 13 from beyond the arc - well, in that situation the sim engine will see the other team is scoring mostly from the interior and adjust your defence to "-2". This might not be a good thing.

So I don't recommend it. But you can lessen the bonehead stuff (see ex above) by using the "adjust only if losing by 5, or 10". Also, when you start a game against a better opponent and you try an extreme "+" or "-", halftime adjustments help when you guess wrong. Which is why I recommend it.

jennings I agree with you, if your going to try it use it when losing by 5 or more, I use it on my D-3 teams but not on my D-1 teams unless I'm way outmatched then I might use it with a gimmick D.

I use it. Usually. But mostly I set it to "when losing". If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I never use the +/- halftime adjustments. My thoughts are it takes time for the team to adjust to the new setting in the 2nd half. Now I do use the tempo adjustments... uptempo if trailing and slowdown if leading... but even then I only use those adjustments in games I think may be competitive.

I use it if losing by 10 or more. My theory is that I am usually smarter than the computer, but that if I am losing really big there is a decent chance I made a mistake.
