Recruiting against a SimAI Topic

I've dumped a nice chunk of cash into a recruit, and figured I'd already have him just considering me, but he is considering me and a SimAI school. The Sim has a much lower Prestige than me, and I've put alot into this kid... it now says in his future stars thing that he is considering signing at the other school over me.

What gives?

anyone?

what do you consider "a nice chunk?"

the sim school has 3 open scholarships so they are starting with $9,000 plus any tournament money. they are also only targeting one player, meaning this is their primary target. therefore, they could potentially have over $10k into him.

I landed him, which was nice. But also, good to know for the future glen, I didn't know SimAI's get into battles for players.

Arent you technically the one who got into the battle with SIMAI?

The SIMAI only goes after non committed players

What they're saying is: before you get a chance to recruit, SIMAI schools put about 80-90% of their money into their target recruits. So when you jumped onto that guy, he was already "considering another school," and that school had put probably about $8K into him (that money is spent as if the other school is 200 miles away, i.e. ~$420 per HV, etc). The sim school doesn't keep spendnig money as recruiting goes on: what's in is in, and it's your job to beat it. You can calculate pretty close to how much effort you need to land a sim-recruited kid before you ever spend the first dollar on him. So yes, technically *you* got into the battle with SIMAI -- he put all his money in before you ever got the chance to show up.

Dont they put added effort in at a certain time after signings?

only on players that have not been offered a scholarship.

I don't think sims do any recruiting after the first cycle.

I think the undecided recruits lower their requirements once the signings begin and what initially wasn't enough to consider the sim, turns into better than nothing.

bump, tzid as I've mulled through other threads, I've seen that what's said in this thread is true, but that SIMS usually launch their "secondary" recruiting effort some time shortly after signing starts and spend money a 2nd time. I haven't seen anything suggesting the SIM does any contiunal spending.

They spend money a 2nd time after signings start -- but that money is spent on unrecruited players so that they'll fill out their rosters. This money is NOT spent on players they are in "battles" for.

Also dont forget that sims will only recruit for up to 10 slots. So in the example in the first post with 3 openings they would only target 1 guy.
