I know these type of threads have been done to death, and although I'm pretty ****** about the result of the game I would like to know of more experienced coaches can explain the result of this game. I honestly don't mind the loss (the margin is a bit unsettling) but the rebounding just baffles me. I don't see how this team would outrebound let alone absolutely dominate me on the boards. This is the area I would really like people to look at to find a reason as to why what happened, happened.

Touche, it's been added.

The only place in the starting lineup you have a distinct advantage in rebounding is at PF. His starters played more than yours, and his starters have an advantage over your subs. I think your foul trouble screwed up the rotation and negated your advantage - your starters are slightly better, your subs are much better, but having your #1 rebounder play only 19 mins, #2 rebounder only 20 mins, and your starting SF 13 mins was the cause, IMO.

I think that's an issue, the fact that press (your D) will give up more off rebs than his def (m2m) is part of it, and you missed five more shots shots so his team had more opportunities for rebounds. The #'s aren't really as egregious as they look (30-17) at first blush, and that's most definitely not at all why you lost the game (which is that they absolutely shredded your defense).

You were cold, they were hot. Sometimes there really isn't much more to it than that.

I know that sounds like an oversimplification, but when the other team shoots 57%, there aren't that many defensive rebounds to be had. On the flip side, your team shot 46% from the field and also very poorly from the free throw line, which is going to create more rebouding opportunities for the other team, and the other team will win most of those since offensive rebounds are the exception, not the norm.

I just saw a game in the 2nd round of a conference tourney where a team that was 0-16 beat the conference champ. I also had one of my teams that is in DI and ranked lost to a 1-12 team. At home!... these thing happen, always have and it appears... always will.

These things do actually happen in real life, and in the over-all scope of HD, are more rare than they seem.

I have noticed tho... I don't seem to care as much when it's not my team involved in the random hosing.

From looking at the boxscore, Rebounding was not your Main Problem. Your Defense Efficiency Rating was 125! Gulp!

Wow I almost commented on the wrong game last night then. I looked at Rupp and saw a game that could have gone differently for you too.
