As a D3 coach, is it ever worth it to fight a D2 sim for a potential dropdown if the player starts the recruiting process "considering" the sim's school?

The phone call response was the standard "you're a backup" sort of thing that would lead me to think he'll drop down, but he's also considering a D2 program. If I get a response to a phone call that would normally indicate I could recruit him, is it worth it to fight the D2 program? Or is it an unwinnable fight, even with guaranteed starts/minutes?

No reason to put any money to this guy, more than likely he'll sign with the D-2 team.

My best advice is to avoid recruiting battles at D-3. Scout the states of the players you are interested in and try to sign guys for a minimum of $120/player.

It costs way too much money to pull a guy away from a higher division team.

I agree. Definitely not worth the effort, especially since it's highly unlikely that you'll win.

Are you saying you can sign a guy for $120? Perhaps I misunderstood, but that seems impossible.

Scholarship, phone call and promised start.

usually when I offer minutes or starts they give me things like - hey I didn't even say I was interested. It's like they want a little foreplay or something...
