How to pull down D2 recruits Topic

Looking for some wisdom from the vets--what are some of the ways you are able to pull down D2 recruits (for a D3 school with high prestige)?

I know about contacting them in order to become their backup options... If you repeatedly try home/campus visits, are they any more likely to accept on a 2nd or 3rd time when they decline it on previous attempts?

I would use scouting trips if I wanted to pulldown a player.

One call (either player or coach) to see if you are a backup. If so then, scouting trips only. Start with 5, then another 5, then another 5, etc. Obviously you would want to focus this on close players. How many will be partially determined by other interest he is getting. If you are not the only one trying to pull down (or a team from his level is pursuing) he won't drop easily. Usually will drop after 10. Had one that took over 20.

Logically, only recruiting efforts that will not be rejected would work to pull the recruit down. Rejected efforts would have no weight.
