About 50 games to go and I find myself 5 games out of the wildcard. I have several key players that are at 95 & 94 percent.

Do I rest them or keep them in the lineup? Am I additionally risking injury by playing them at those percentages?

Do you want to make the playoffs?

If so, you play your best. And, in my experience, you are risking injury by playing fatigued players.

i always make sure to have a few strong bench players so i can regularly rest my starters and keep them at 100% without having too many sucky lineups along the way.

Too late for that now. He's 2/3rds of the way thru the season.

I had a nice 3-23 run at 1 point and have been fighting to get back to 3 games above .500, so I played my "starters" more than expected early on, now I am in a position to fight for the wildcard, I just hope I don't incur a serious injury along the way...

I've had too many players get hurt at 100% while others at 80% stay injury free to put much stock into the fatigue numbers. I say play your best guys all the time. I've taken players down into the 70s without a falloff in production or an injury.

As my dad used to say: "you can rest when you're dead".

Exactly.

When to rest? How about when you're tired?

I'd probably rotate the guys. If you have four fatigued players, then play them 3 out of 4 games, and maybe play all four the game after an off day. They won't bounce back to 100%, but you should be able to keep them at 94-95%.

Look at your pitching. If you have a glove man who can rest a top player, start him when your best pitcher starts. Otherwise, watch your settings and don't let Sparky make your moves. With SEVERAL fatigued, it will be all you can do to keep them at 94-95%.

consider splits and platoon them for a while

if you run into a team that's really bad then I like to take a chance and rest some players then.
