um. no offense to ahu (who by the way has no active teams), but why is this a pinned thread?

I mean, there is some nice stuff in here, but i dont see anything that relates to HD.

am i missing something? does this info actually correspond to how you should coach in HD?

he was / is a real head coach, d2 I think, he and I sitemailed a little bit - he gave my son a few tips on how to break into coaching, appears to be a great fellow

he was nice enough to put the time into explaining what 'real life' triangle, motion, flex, and fb and / or whatever else he addressed

his writings have zero to do with the fake game, i.e. HD, other than his own ability to translate real life into HD, which I think he would admit was somewhat limited

i think it is an excellent thread. i knew basically nothing about basketball when i started this game, i loved the wildcats but they were the only team i would watch, and i never played. so i had no idea what triangle was. i knew it was an offense but that was it. the compendium of HD offenses is a great summary I think, at least, they were very interesting to me.

i often wonder, although i'm pretty sure its true, if my understanding of what defenses and offenses are more closely follows HDs version or the real thing. anyway, it was nice to have a real life insight, and i do apply things i learned in that thread (and afterwards, from other places as well) to HD.

I found it a useful and interesting read.

several different opinions there, and lots disagree with oldavey...

dont get me wrong, I think there is some very good stuff in there andthe dude onbviously knows his stuff when it comes to understanding various offenses and how they work in real life.

but I , for one, found ZERO correlation to HD in there. okay, not zero, but not much. .

and there was some stuff that would be very misleading and could steer an unsuspecting HDnewbie down the wrong path.

i actually dont mind that it is a pinned thread. ... it is very cool that a real college coach is on here(was). but it should be labeled OT. it is offtopic for HD. there is just no way that HD's motion, for instance, contemplates whether you are trying to run a 5-out motion or a 2-3 motion or whatever.
