Qualifications... Topic

I want to jump to D1 but I'm not qualified yet. I've heard many different things. 90W's, 100W's, certain level of NT appearances, yada yada yada...

Anyway, my situation is a little unique. When I joined Knight, I had had decent success for five years. 20+ wins every season. I spent 4 years in D3 and then jumped to D2. At Stonhill I came in and had another 20 win season.

Due to RL, (and not needing to RS anyone) I missed my chance to purchase a new season. So for 7 seasons I was not part of the world. Oddly enough, when I decided to come back, it was the first season Stonehill had a vacant coaching spot. So I'mmmmmmmmmmm baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!

Anyway, I tacked on a 29 win season and an eliete 8 appearance in my first year back. So that brings me to my question...

What do I have to do to be qualified for D1? I was going to type out all the scenerios that are going through my head, but its just easier for you pros to give me the deets (yes deets) rather than me trying to explain some off the wall idea.

Thanks for any help.

Another season like the last one would likely get you qualified for low-level DI jobs. Three seasons in DII is quicker than it usually takes, but that was a very successful season. Otherwise, two more seasons with solid success should do it. They want to see NT's, not PIT's.

It's probably a matter of loyalty at this point. What's your loyalty right now? I think it needs to be an A+ ending the season to open the door for D1. If you're at B+ or worse, then it'll take 2 more seasons I believe. A- or better and you could find that door opened if you have another solid season.

I'm in a favorable conf to put up another good season and I scheduled very middle of the road but I lose my two starting guards. Back ups aren't that great.

Reputation: A+
Loyalty: A-

No, it's definitely not that. First of all, the two seasons he's got at DII (the first being no postseason) would definitely not be enough. Second, if it's purely a loyalty issue, simmy will tell you that you're qualified for the job, and then you'll get denied once you apply.

Well I meant going forward (i.e. after next season) for the loyalty part.

But good to know on the last part, I haven't had it happen to me where I'm Qualified for a gig but then shot down over loyalty. Seems kind of strange to me to call it Qualified, but I do recall seeing this discussed before on the forums.

yeah, jdno, it happens... happened to me last season in Rupp when I decided I wanted to change to a more active conference.

Speaking of qualifications. . . .

With my team history, with another good season would I be correct in presuming I could probably get myself a decent DII post?

arss, you can move up to D2 even after 1 season these days. A good track record like yours is merely icing on the cake.

Well, less looking at 'Able to move up' that 'What would it be possible to move up to?" Good DII programs? Or would I pretty much need to start with something low prestige however you slice it?

Nah, with your record, you'd be eligible for the best of the best in D2. Of course, another qualified D2 -- or even D3 -- coach may outrank you perhaps, so there's always that risk. But I think if you have a B+ or A- prestige in D3, all D2 school openings should be available to you.

Just wasn't sure if you coudl jump straight up from a DIII to a higher dII at all. Thanks.

I just started playing hoops dynasty. Is it possible to move to DII after one season in DIII? My C- prestige team won the PIT.
12/20/2009 7:07 PM
Yes, you will be able to move up to DII. You also have to decide if that's the best thing for you overall, i.e. if you know the game well enough to compete at the next level.
