Foul aggresiveness Topic

Anyone have any experience with these settings? How much of a practical difference does it seem to make if you set it to More Aggressive, normal or Less Aggressive? Would I presume that you should basically set it based on depth? Just a setting I haven't played with that much and was curious how other people used it.

I had totally forgotten about those settings until I saw this thread. I would think that if you had a short bench or really weak backups that the more aggressive setting is the way to go.

Less aggressive and when your in foul trouble with that guy he is not going to drive to the lane as much or go for steals. If your more aggressive then your going to push the envelope and get more fouls called causing you to get fouled out, from what I understand.

The labels are quite misleading, schroedess26. The settings have nothing to do with driving the lane or going for steals. They should be renamed More Risk, Normal Risk, and Less Risk. More aggressive means leave the player on the court longer. For example, say a player picks up his 3rd foul with 5 minutes in the first half. Normally you would bench him but 'more aggressive' says to let him play. Obviously, less aggressive means the opposite.

I tend to play 10 guys at uptempo and sub quickly and like to use the "more aggressive" setting. I figure guys seldom foul out and prefer my bench to get a lot of minutes anyways.

Weena is correct.

And Jennings, if you set your whole team to "more aggressive" it actually negates the effect of the setting. The setting works best when only assigned to the 5 starters.

Yeah Wenna is right here this isn't what the agressiveness factor means at all. It isn't what the player will / won't do it is how you as a coach sub him in/out when he is in foul trouble.

Ah and here I have been using that thought for like 8 seasons haha. Guess its some of the easiest things in your mind that can be wrong. Its good to know especially now with my current team.

I suggest to CS a long time ago that the way the settings were named could be very confusing to a new coach. Suggested they rename them something along the lines of "Leave him in", "Normal", and "Sit him". Got the standard "Thanks for your idea" response.
