I know there is no magic number on this (or is there?) but i thought i would ask as to what people feel is a comfortable recruiting effort for a 100 mile JUCO in order to get him to show. fyi, he's a top 30 at his position.

It isn't going to significantly increase your chances of getting him regardless of what you spend. I would spend as little as possible to use the extra saved money from him to go after a bigger time recruit.

are you saying a JUCO signed for $3,000 vs. $15,000 has no significant difference in chance to report to campus?

if true, i find that hard to believe. what is your reference for that statement?

I assume you mean ineligible? I spent about $45k+ on an ineligible at Texas and he didn't show up. I've spent as little as $2,500 and had an ineligible show up. I think it's completely random.

Believe whatever you want but I have never seen any true correlation between recruiting effort spent on an ineligible and him showing/not showing up. That coupled with numerous threads of coaches upset that they spent 10s of thousands of dollars on a recruit that didn't show up.

I don't understand why you would want to pour more money into a recruit then it costs to sign him. If you have that much money over to do so then you undershot drastically in recruiting.

thanks for the input on the JUCO although all of it is just your opinion so please state the same as opposed to pawning it off as coming from a more reliable source.

i don't understand the mentality in some of the threads these days. i am not pointing any fingers, and am not without fault myself, but the point of these forums is a place to exchange ideas, for new coaches to seek some guidance, and for general amusement. i don't see the need for all the sarcasm and cynicism that goes on. its not fun for anybody!

you are right that i meant an ineligible. after that, the rest is just your opinion. i came to the forum to gain information on recruting effort in order to help him come to campus as opposed to going JUCO. that was the question as seen in the first post.

I agree. Everyone has to be a little more forgiving and not so quick to jump down peoples' throats, myself included.
