I am finding out That recruiting is a real Art. I feel that I got a pretty good recruiting class more out of Luck than Skill. It seems to me that I would be better off to WAIT and see who drops before spending a lot of money. Is this a good strategy? I Love hearing what you Vets have to say, It helps me to learn the tricks of the trade. BTW I am at Div.III

Sure dropdowns are one way to go, most coaches at d3/2 use pulldowns tho.

With your B- prestige you could try doing some pulldowns but I would stick with your wait and see partially. I usually like to pick out 25% of my recruiting class as people I can have a shot at right away. This way I can hopefully get them cheap without a battle. Then have the money for the future starting of my roster.

Who knows though its a balance job.

I guess I am just slow...........I took me a couple of recruiting classes to REALLY Understand this pull down/drop down thing. Now I see that I was wasting a lot of time looking for good Div.III players. Look Up and Pull down makes more sense. Also the quality of player is much better in the drop downs. I get too excited about recruiting and spend to much money early.

Many times spending early is wise, other times it is not. That is what makes recruiting fun.

At DIII, I wouldn't spend money other than phone calls for at least the first 12 hours to a day. Start pulling down too early and a DII team can swoop in. Patience.

but if you wait to long a D-2 sim could jump on them, it's a fine balance.

I would say don't spend your money to fast when you get excited about recruits. If you want I am more than willing to send you a spreadsheet I worked up as a guide point.

I try to divide out all my money to the whole recruiting time and try to keep in line with that or with extra money until after signing starts. It was the biggest thing I did to help me not overspend and have something in the tank for the final push on your key drop down/pull down recruits.

If you only need 1 or 2 recruits, it's better to wait. Funds run out quickly at D-3 and you can't afford any battles
