How much will this guy kill me if I put him at SS?

Glove = 84

Arm S = 79

Arm A = 82

My starting shortstop is a bit stronger but one worse in glove. He is 89-83-92-86.

This year he has a .963 fielding percentage, 18+ 0-

I know not a 1 for 1 correlation because my guy has much better range and arm strength.

My third basemen who is slightly worse, but better arm strength is 75-78-86-82. In his career at SS has done .943 with 0+ 3- in 71 games.

I think the Range and Arm strength is what is going to hurt, but that may just prevent you from getting + plays.

Won't "kill" you, but he'd be an asset at 2B, or just about anywhere other than SS and CF.

I don't think he'll kill you. With the 80 range, there will be a bunch of balls that he won't get to. It'd be worse if he had the range but, say, a 75 glove or arm.

Diego Mateo is a perfect comparison. Within a few point in every defenive attribute.

2150 innings at SS in career, .958 fielding% with 58 errors, 3+ and 17-.

He played 1 full season at SS with 70 Es in the ML, but that was a few years ago and his ratings were much lower then. He 25, so I assume he's developed about as much as he's going to. He's a good hitter and moreso as a SS. As has been said, he won't kill you there. If your other options are not that much better defensively, I'd go with him at SS. But it also depends on what your options are at the other positions where you might be considering playing him.
