There continues to be quite a bit of confusion regarding the most recent update involving the end of the steroids era.

I want to jump in and clarify a few things.

When the game was designed, we based the underlying home run formula on the MLB circa 2000-2003. These, of course, were huge steroid seasons. Things have changed a bit since then.

None of our formulas are linear. They are all designed to replicate actual percentages and distributions.

When we adjusted the home run formula in the last update, we changed it so the top tier power guys would no longer be capable of hitting 80 home runs (assuming league average conditions). The upper echelon of power hitters saw their average home run abilities fall (while maintaining the expected distribution). For example, a 95-rated power guy is still a top-notch power hitter and will hit more homers than an 85-rated power guy. Collectively, though, they will hit fewer homers than they used to.

The "lost" home runs have become doubles, singles and triples.

The change was not immediate for all players. It was phased in so that when each player hit their first development cycle after the update, their underlying power numbers used in the engine were then updated.

This has been confirmed and verified as working correctly. You can view the World Snapshot to see the falling numbers.

What happens many times is an update occurs and then you see a player or players begin to under perform. The first reaction (and understandably so) is to blame it on the update. Typically, this is just a run of bad luck, tougher opposition, ballpark configurations, etc.

We hope this helps better explain the change and what is being seen.

Thanks
