I'm just wondering what tactics other coaches use against the FC press. I personally usually don't change much for it, but i would appreciate any feed back. Thanks.

good advice haha. being a newb i'd love to hear an answer to this question, altho the top coaches probably know this and it is the key to their success (and i doubt they will reveal it all).

I'm not quite a newb but I'm scared of the Press a little, haha, but yeah I doubt any top coaches will help too much.

I have had mixed success against the FCP. I generally funnel the ball to my quickest players and my best ball handlers. Since the press is a trapping D, I also funnel it to quick bigs who can pass.

Ball handling, Passing, Speed. Re-balance distribution accordingly.

i think you do not shoot threes.....always shooting over a "trap"

Well thanks for the advice but it didn't help I got slaughtered. My team is very young though.

i was 0 for a million this season against teams who ran the press.

The press is magic! If you have good guards though i've found that i usually shoot a better percentage from long range against a press.

LOl- 3 guaurds guys... 3 guards. if you have any speed advantage feed that player... as in your sg playing sf is faster than his sf.

Shoot more 3's than you would against a man defesne, but less than you would against a zone. Again, look for a speed advantage when choosing which player to feed.

This strategy is best used if your team plays m2m defense b/c then the rebounding disadvantage you get from playing an extra sg is not as bad than if you play a zone or fcp yourself. It's also best if you have five guards (which is why I like to carry 5), but can be used w/ slow down if you have 4 guards.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em

main thing I do is adjust my player rotation to get ballhandling, passing, speed and ath into the lineup

most clear examples are choices at the 3 - if you usually use a PF, think about whether you have a true SF....or if you have a choice between a SG and a SF, go with the SG

I also look at the relative depth of our teams- if it is tied or I have an edge, I may go uptempo and let them wear themselves out

Cry about it like VD

uptempo works well scince your not passing as much. Get speed and Athleticism to compete with that system.
