Assistant coach specialization Topic

I think it'd be interesting that when you take over a new team you could choose your assistant coach. There would be different types of coaches that have specializations to help your team. Here are some examples:

The Accountant - 10% reduction on recruiting costs.

The Scout - Reduced FSS costs, able to FSS PR and internationals. Scouting trips are more comprehensive (shows high/high, high/low, etc).

The Drill Sergeant - Practice time is increased by 10 minutes.

The Negotiator - Reduced chance of ineligibles going JUCO, increased chance of player accepting a redshirt, reduced chance of a player declaring for the draft early.

The Scoundrel - Drastically reduces the chance of getting caught with booster gifts. At D3, allows limited use of booster gifts (throwback jersey, plane tickets).

I think this would add a layer of complexity to make the game more fun. Thoughts?

Why not have assistant coaches have grades in each? Like he is an A in this and a B+ here or F there. That way you could mix and match a little of each. So instead of 10% recruiting reduction it would be 5%.

Oh also, how would you determine who gets a shot at what assistant coaches? I mean an A+ level D2 school should get someone better than a C- D2 school.

I wasn't talking about letter grades of assistant coaches or a limited pool in which schools compete for the best assistant, but that is also an interesing idea.

ages ago, there was talk of this in the HD development process - hiring different assistants who would have distinct expertise.....didnt seem to go anywhere

Also like the idea. But there are too many changes that need to be made and of course not many are.

NBA Live does this and it adds an interesting element to the game.

I think there is a lot of other things that need to be looked at before this should get a serious consideration.

Hard Ball Dynasty has coaches like that and you bid for their services before each season. It was my least enjoyable part of the game. I am not sure exactly how much of an impact they had on the actual game play, but I think it would just give another reason to complain, "Why did my A= free throw shooter miss 2 at the end of the game when I spent 50k on an elite free throw coach!" I agree there are much more important things that need to be made sure are working correctly before thinking about adding assistants.
