Does Height Play A Factor?? Topic

Anyone really know if height plays a factor in gameplay?

Nope. It's just window dressing. A 6'10" center has no advantage over a 6'2" center.

I find this rather ironic, given how intricate this game is.

That's what I was thinking but someone in my conference seemed to think the same as ankerjm. I've always looked at height when recruiting and would like to know if I need to or not.

It's already factored into the rankings. My only question with height is if a player grows during college, an inch or 2 at most usually, does that help his rebounding (or any other attributes) increase faster?

I can handle hieght being factored into rankings, but if my C goes from 6'10" to 7', his rebounding (as well as LP, SB, and maybe Def) should increase more than if he had stayed at 6'10" his whole 4 years.

Anyone know if this happens?

Yes, if a player grows then his appropriate skills increase also.

it is odd, but going back forever admin has said that height has no effect separate from the ratings - so in theory height is part of REB and other ratings....

I've spoken to CS recently about this and height is absolutely and unequivocally decorative. The only thing that matters are the ratings. If you're noticing anything other than this its pure coincidence. Even if a player grows during the offseason it doesn't necessarily mean that the improvements he made wouldn't have happened anyway. I asked that very question because I had 3 or 4 of my players grow an inch in one offseason last offseason in Tark and wanted to know if it meant anything. They said it didn't. I'll post their reply if I still have it.

Question that I asked:

I remember reading that player heights was just cosmetic and didn't really matter, is that still the case? I had both my jr guards grow an inch in the offseason so I'm curious.

Response from CS:

That's correct. It's based on their abilities and skill ratings, not their height.

Somewhat related to the question about height. Someone asked me if High School Stats mattered once a player gets into college. My understanding was that with the exception of Free Throw Shooting Percentage it didn't matter what their stats were in high school and it was based on their ratings.

So for example: A player is rated higher in every single category and averaged 12.3 points per game compared to a lower rated player in every category who averaged 29.5 points per game.

Is it true that the high school stats really are meaningless, similar to height and weight?

Some coaches and an uninformed CS guy may try to tell you that they give a slight indication of how the player may perform but for all practical purposes the only HS stats that matter are FT% and GPA. Everything else is basically eye candy.

Players are already given a boost from their height. Someone who would have been a 40 reb that is 7'0 would now be like 60 or so and someone who is only 6'8 would be like 50 or something. Don't know the exact numbers but players heights are taken into account.

When you think of it some High School conferences your granny could score 50 every night where in others you might only get 5. Stats in high school are meaningless thats part of the reason colleges just don't sign the top scorer, its because it truly means nothing on how good someone is.
