Will this guy accept a redshirt? Topic

SG. I already have 3 SGs on my roster.

Here's what the scouting trip produced:

"Also, seems like your average kid when it comes to playing time, starting, etc."

He has a WE of 68.

Will he accept the redshirt, and/or at least accept it with an tolerable drop in WE?

It's nearly impossible to predict

I would give it a better than 50% odd though. Worth a try and pull back if he goes Whiny.

Ive found that the amount of effort u put into recruiting him seems to help your chances

why don't you try informing him so he knows for sure

I'm only in my first season, but have gone through recruiting already. My experience is not to do this. It only has a negative effect, and when I tried it a couple of times, the player stopped considering me. Now, when I took it back and put a little more money in, the player considered me and ultimately signed, but it's just costing you extra valuable dollars.
After finding this out on my own, I then saw the advice of multiple veteran coaches not to do this.
Maybe others have had different experiences, but I would say don't bother. Even after the player seemed to reject the redshirt during recruiting, once he was on my roster I put a redshirt on him with no problem whatsoever.

If you're going to inform of a redshirt you have to put some extra effort in the same cycle you do it or else there is a good chance he will take you off his list. The vast majority of the time I don't even use that button and just redshirt them when they get to campus, most times they accept sometimes they don't. If you have other recruits you are still trying to lock up it's not worth informing them.

I just simply don't play them the first or second pre-season game and then redshirt him. Usually works, I can't remember who told this to me but whoever did was right on the nose.

I wouldn't inform him during recruiting.

i never would've thought to not play a potential redshirt in the exhibition games as a way of increasing the likelihood that he'll then accept it.

i've also never found the "inform of redshirt" option to do anything but reduce the kid's interest and force me to spend extra $ to get back to where i was before.
