What are the implications, in the Age of Potential, of taking a guy with a WE of 1?

For example, will his defense suffer from it even if he has a very high DEF, or will it still only stunt his development generally?

The only impact that WE has is in player development. It is in no way tied into the engine in game play.

The gains he makes during the season will likely be wiped out by regression in the off-season. However, if you feel he is high enough in a certain category (really all categories you look for) right now, then he is probably ok to sign.

You aren't going to get much if any inseason development.

I've been tempted before and ended up regretting it every time. The player will probably be worse starting his senior year than starting his freshman year.

Thanks for all the input. I'll probably pass, as recommended.

I think you'll see 5-10 points of in-season development. Most to all will be wiped out in the offseason.

Don't do it, man. Just don't do it.

Is the player good enough to play for you, with those ratings, for 4 years?

Exactly.

If you are planning on staying at your school for a while then I would not do it. If you are going to move up after this season or next then a player with a WE of 1 is not a bad recruit.

Not to disagree with a guy with pork's pedigree, but I think cornfused is right.

I've had a guy whose ratings have been solid since I recruited him, and he has given me very good minutes both off the bench and as a starter. Low WE guys can be overlooked and under-utilized, although I wouldn't recruit more than one every four years or so. I definitely think it can be a good move if he has solid ratings to start (although I wouldn't do it at D1).

no, the guy wouldn't have been a top player for me. I'm just disparaging over the crappy recruit pools in D2 these days.
