I am a B+ with 3 scholarships and some extra postseason cash. They are a D- D1 school with 4 scholarships but really no postseason cash.

Do I have a chance to steal away a recruit from them if I put all my money into one basket?

Oh also hes 20 miles from me and 550 from the SIMAI school.

No chance

You definitely have a chance, but it depends if the recruit is a priority for the sim AI. If the recruit isn't a priority then it will be fairly easy to take him away. For example in Phelan this past recruiting season I spent less than 6k to take away a recruit from a bad D1 simai, the distance was about the same as yours. Although I do have an A+ prestige, I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make, maybe 2k extra? But if he's a priority you might as well go after somebody else, but at the same time I can't imagine a player that B+ prestige can pull down being a priority for a D1 school even a simai.

Also simai's don't recruit like humans, according to the FAQ they recruit as if all recruits are 200 miles away. I'm also pretty sure their money isn't allocated the same way humans are.

You do not have a chance when you have less scholarships. The D1 team gets way more money per scholarship.

Like I said I only spent 6k to take a recruit away from a D1 team. So you don't need a ridic amount of cash to do so.

But he doesn't have an A+ prestige

I think the full letter grade differece will be about a 2k difference in this situation, maybe 3k at most. Still 8-9k for a stud D2 recruit isn't an insane amount.

However I would not put any real effort into the recruit until the 1st word of the street so you can see how much of a priority the recruit is to the sim ai.

How do you read whether he is a big priority to the SIMAI or not? Will it say they are real tight or some such?
1/26/2010 12:45 AM
Yea, if it says real tight, or something to that affect then you will have no chance of taking him away. But if it's says the recruit isn't sold, or something along those lines then you will have a chance. It make take 8k+ to get him, but I'd be suprirsed if you didn't. I'm assuming he's told you you're a backup right? I will add there was another time I took a recruit away from a D1 school and it cost me almost 10k with an A+ prestige, so it can get expensive.

Ya there is a risk. Just gotta wait and see. I have my team with 6 freshman coming back so I can afford to gamble somewhat.

As in anything in this game nothing is every for sure, it all has its great scale and risk.

I agree it is possible with the recruit only being 20 miles away.

I've taken them away with as little as $6k and an A- prestige and I've spent as much as $18k with an A+ prestige and failed.

Remember distance doesn't matter for SIM, all recruits are at the same distance in the the SIMs budget.

Ya SIMs get the 200 mile rate for every recruit right? Which is good cause then the SIMAI has a better chance of recruiting, but also kinda sucks when they are 2000 miles away sometimes.

Thanks for the help though guys.

That is untrue, SIMS do not use miles or money at all to recruit.

Guess I don't understand how SIMAI recruits than at all. I know they just go after 1/2 their scholarships first and then try to fill out their roster later it seems.
