Hey guys, sure this is posted somewhere, would appreciate the advice though.

Still somewhat new, startinfg my 3rd season. I don't understand promotion bonuses. Our world just rolled over and re-signing coaches. When should I promote my players?

Example: I have 28 rookie league players, probably 1/2 of which I will promote to Low A this season. When do I promote them to get the "promotion bonus"

Thanks!

There is no in-season "promotion bonus" - if you have prospects with any potential, have them start the season in Low A.

The promotion bump is not a bonus, but rather an update on the players normal progression.

Do you guys not believe that timely promotions help develop a player?

The player will progress normally if you promote him at the right times. Thats what I believe.

So rather than call it a "bonus", you're just saying he'll "progress normally if you promote him at the right times"?

Yeah, if you promote him at the right times he reaches his full potential. If you don't promote at the right times he won't.

I don't really think we know what "full potential" is for any player.

You have an argument for everything lol

That was really the point of my question I guess.

Can you give me your opinion as to what "If you promote him at the right times he reaches his full potential" means?

Maybe. But my last post was the only contradictory statement I've made in this thread. And I'm 100% positive about it.

Ok, you're right, we can't know the full potential for sure. The point is if you promote correctly he will progress as the sim means for him to. There is no bonus to the players ability in the end, only a penalty if you don't promote correctly.

Isn't FishNasty looking for tips on how to "promote correctly"

YES - I AM!

Thanks drichar for trying to get this thread back on track. Any answers?

OK. A player has to go on the 40 man his 4th pro season. He will be making 55k. He should be in AAA. How you get him there is largely up to you.

I don't like to give a player more than a "full" season at any level. I usually go by AB/IP/GA. 400 AB, 150 IP, 50 appearances at a minimum. Sometimes they get spread out over two seasons but that's my loose guidelines. Then, in S4, he's in already in AAA or on his way. I usually hold players back 20+ games into a new season before promoting to the bigs. I do pretty well in developing late 1st rounders and 2nd rounder(sometimes even later rounds) well enough to get them into the bigs.
