Best Rated DIII Players Ever Topic

Im interested to see some of the best rated players in DIII. I have recruited a couple guys that I thought were up there, but I'd like to see some more players to see how they match up.

So just post their ratings or link to their profile if they're still a current player. And I dont care about stats. This is purely about ratings.

Here's a couple of players that I recruited:

Sophomore SG: Joseph Foster

Senior C: Melvin Sutton

There have been 700+ DIII guys in the past. Had a couple myself. Doubt that those guys will be available at that level again.

Well, you can't count:

a) pre-potential
b) first attempt at potential and
c) current

players together. I mean, I had a DIII team with something like 4 over-750s in the first days of potential.

Lets just base this on current players.

current players are all the same. with potential, the "freaks" have been eliminated. all the top talent is the same.

under the old system you could have pulled down a stud. then you could have RS'ed him. Then started him all four years and given him 30mpg.

Now, under potential, final ratings are predetermined. Its rounded off the upper echelon of recruits.

a great guard will be 70 SPD, 75 PER, 75 BH, 75 PAS
a great post player will be 60 ATH, 80 RB, 60 LP

or a variation of the sort. ie - maybe 10 less in speed, but 10 better in BH

Not sure I agree, polo.

I think it's much more interesting than D1 where every player is actually the same. How do you gameplan when everyone is 90 in all categories?

I really like the variation in D3 and the ability to build a team the way you want (e.g. all per or all speed).

I've had a few 700's at NYU, had 3 at once a couple of seasons ago

I completely AGREE. That's the reason I went back to DIII. It was so enjoyable to chose the complexion of my team through recruiting. Also, as you said, gameplanning is the most fun at DIII.

Anyways, does anyone have any player ratings to post?

In the good old days I had the great James Schwerd...this was pre potential, but very shortly before, he was a 781, I really thought he was going to hit 800 but alas he didn't. Fond, fond memories of Mr. Schwerd.

I had Carlos Noon at Bard in Smith for a while. He topped out in the 740's at point guard.

This is why I'll have only 2 teams at the end of Phelan.

I had a National Championship team (pre-potential) that had 4 guys rated over 700 - 2 were very close to 800. That team ended up losing 1 game that season and won in the tourney by an average of 30 pts per game.
