Recruiting... no response Topic

If you send a phone call to a player and he accepts but doesn't respond does that basically mean he is not interested. Example: I sent a phone call to a player in the very first cycle to see if he would drop. He didn't decline the call but i also didn't receive an email with a "back-up" message etc. What should I make from that? Chance, no chance? Thanks

Usually I will send another the next cycle but I'm 99% sure it means he isn't interested.

Thanks, appreciate the advice. I will move on and save the $10.

What about that message that says "I'm not interested" Then, he signs with a school with a lower prestige than mine.

Does any response at all indicate some level of interest? For example, this guy is likely expensive.. but gettable -- as opposed to the earlier poster who had no chance at all because no note was sent.

Thanks/JRNY

"I'm not interested" means no chance

You have a huge advantage if you are within 70 miles of a recruit. Chances are if he signed with a school with lower prestige he was very close to them while you weren't.

Thanks. What about the situation where you get "considered" by someone, and then don't offer the schollie prior to the signing period.
I have tried this only once, and when I did finally offer it, after 3 cycles he did not sign, so I signed someone else and didn't look back.
Do you think my guy who was considering me would have eventually signed? Clearly it is best to offer the schollie immediately after getting "green."

if you show up on their consider list they'll usually be willing to sign with you eventually.

If they don't sign within a couple cycles after the scholarship was offered it most likely means you've barely done enough to be considered and not enough to sign. It may take a few extra cycles as the recruit may be holding out hope that someone else will come along, but eventually they'll lower their standards and sign with you even if you've made no additional recruiting effort.
