I'm new. I'm also trying to figure out how this thing works. When a prospect comes out, what determines when he signs?

a) Whenever the highest bidder remains the same for a number (let's say 3) of cycles
b) Whenever some club offers a magic number. Perhaps the guy initially asks for $2mil, but once anyone offers $10+mil, the guy signs that cycle
c) OR Whoever the highest bidder is after some number (let's say 15) of cycles
d) Whenever one club is offering X% more (say 200%) than any other club

I have to admit, I got burned earlier this season. An IFA told me I was #1 for a number of cycles (6, maybe?), but then while I was away at work another club came in and signed him. I think I had offered $2.2mil and the guy who signed him paid $2.5mil in the end.

I'm not sure there is a certain time frame. I've been high bidder for 3 whole days and then got outbid.

Recently I was high bidder for several days before the guy signed with me; I assumed someone else was making incrementally higher bids all along but ultimately didn't get to my price.

According to WIS, every prospect is generated with a signing timeline. Assuming he gets at least one acceptable bid, the bidding process does not alter the preset timeline at all.

In other words, he's going to sign at a specific cycle no matter what. It's just that no one knows what that cycle is. Sometimes it's a couple days after he shows up. Sometimes it's a week or more. But the bidding process does not affect it...or so they say.

That's helpful to know. I'm not sure how, exactly, but it is. Thanks.
