RPI calculation question Topic

I've seen the conference rpi for one of my teams decline a ton during the conference schedule. This puzzles me since we are playing each other - and every win is matched by a loss.

Now, I know that rpi also looks at opponent records - does this mean that (a) our OOC opponents are all losing tons of games? or (b) our OOC opponents are all playing tons of bad teams themselves? or (c) something else?

A and B can be contributing factors and also possibly (C) your conference had a poor OOC record and is now playing teams (in-conference) with poor records in relation to the conferences around them

the conference had a great RPI at the end of OOC - like .600

since then has consistently fallen.....I had expected it to hold up but can only think of (a) and B

OOC isn't just your opponents records. It's also the records of the teams they've played....known by RPI as 'opponents' opponents.'

Exactly kypride.

Also, I believe (as stupid as this is) that because of the weight given to home/road, if your conference does exceptionally well at home, that hurts the overall RPI, and can do so fairly substantially.

EDIT: Although that could be wrong. I know a home win and road loss are weighted equally, so maybe it wouldn't hurt, but it seems to like it could.
