Coach Hiring Suggestions Topic

I know everyone hates coach hiring but I think its beacuse it comes when everyone is geeked up at the start of the season. So how Bout being able to re-hire coaches or make offers & promotions to coaches during the playoffs. But this would only be available to any team who is already committed for next season.

Maybe they can make it where you can re sign coaches (Or make offers ) using your current seasons budget as a guideline. So as long as you don't go over your current season's hiring budget you're good. And anyone you re-hire can be hired for multi seasons (2 -3 at a time). You should also be able to move the coaches up and down as you'd like.

This is a Very boring time for owners who don't make the playoffs and some of them may stick around or committ earlier if they can help build for next season.

I would also like to see a Fall League for Star minor league prospects for the weeks that the playoffs are on. maybe just a few extra games in each level for the ALL-Star Rosters.

Coach hiring happens the same time as FA. If you're not chasing FA, coach hiring gives you something to do.

It's a good time to start planning for the following season. Get an idea of what your roster might look like next season, start talking to other returning owners about possible trades, etc.

It's only boring if you allow it to be boring.

Always thought youo should be able to tie a can to a coach mid season (or end of season) and hire an unassigned coach.

Penalty would be that you're on the hook for the former coaches' full salary, and obviously would have less of a pool to select from (ie, the overs from coach hiring).

That would kinda sorta fit into the idea above.

As I posted in one of my worlds (not related to the ideas listed above):

I really hate the part of the coach-hiring process that allows people to hire coaches from a lower level at the ML level despite there being a multitude of ML coaches already available, thereby dwindling down the amount of coaches available at the lower levels.

I've mentioned this before but there should never be more than 3-5 more coaches demanding positions than jobs available. If there are 17 HC needed, let us pick from 20-22. If someone drops down a level to hire someone, a coach at the hired level would lower his job requirements.

There's really no point in 52 coaches demanding ML HC jobs.

All these ideas are lame.

Only one idea regarding coach hiring would solve ALL problems... interestingly, it is MY idea.

FREE AGENCY for all coaches. No demands, no automatic re-hiring. Let the market decide where they belong.
