I really disagree with Northern Iowa's 9 seed and Notre Dame's 6 seed. Otherwise everything else is all right. Some good matchups right away:

Siena over Purdue; Wouldn't be surprised if this happened.
Oklahoma St over Georgia Tech; Anderson goes off.
Louisville over Cal; Which Louisville team will show up?
Temple over Cornell; Interesting, best game to pick 12 over 5 but I like Temple.

Possibly could see some mid-majors and non-bcs schools advance and shock some people.

ineverlose, don't be an idiot. Purdue is good enough to beat Siena without Hummel. In fact I think they'll make it to the Sweet 16. I know Purdue was really bad in the 1st half vs. Minnesota, but Matty Painter will have them playing ferociously hard so they can show people like you that Purdue is always underrated, and that they deserve some respect. Also, Georgia Tech has some big guys that will tear up Oklahoma St.

Also, I really disagree with Duke getting a #1 seed, esp. that they are the #3 seed overall. I would have chosen Ohio State and West Virginia before Duke.

I'm interested in the UT vs. Wake 8/9. It's a bit of a bummer that Miss St didn't make it in. They were fun to watch this weekend

Ohio st. doesn't even have a top 20 RPI! How could you take them over Duke?
3/14/2010 7:29 PM
Because Evan Turner is one of the best players, if not the best, in the country and Ohio State's starting lineup is one of the best as well. The only problem is depth. To me, Duke just isn't 1 seed material, but that is my opinion.

Ohio State lost to UNC with Evan Turner. No way they deserve a #1 seed, and on top of that they don't have many impressive wins to get a 1 seed. WVU can have a case over Duke but definitely not OSU.

If the seeding was done by how good a team is then your argument would be valid. Duke's resume is much better then OSU's, OSU wasnt even in consideration for a one seed according to the tournament committee guy (he said the 4 one seeds and WVU were considered).

Also I think Duke is better then OSU but im obviously biased. However Duke deserved a one seed based on the resumes, its that simple.
3/14/2010 7:38 PM
Yeah, you guys are right... resume wise Duke was the right choice, but I still think they are overrated, and that OSU is better than them. kmason, that was the 3rd game of the season, look at the past 14 games...

Minnesota making the tournament is a joke...especially over a team like Mississippi State who lost their CT final by 1 in overtime to a better team (Kentucky) than Minnesota getting killed by Ohio State in the Big Ten final...not sure how MN made it over MSU...what a joke.

? Come on bro. I'm just saying. I'm a big ten fan so I want them to win. I just wont be surprised if they lose. However, Siena can give them some problems. They have surprised in the last couple of years and beat Ohio State last year unexpectedly.
Btw, Georgia Tech is one of most inconsistent teams around even worse than Louisville etc etc. I agree that Duke should not have gotten a 1 seed, but they won their conference tourney and played a pretty tough stretch even though i really hate them.

Otherwise most of the picks are straightforward.
3/14/2010 7:48 PM
Also, why did Duke (#3 overall) A. get the best draw and B. get to play the winner of the play-in game...shouldn't the #1 overall face the play-in winner? Just some very illogical decisions on the committees part.

Virginia Tech and Mississippi St. both got hosed.

Not necessarily. They had a better RPI and beat the top 4 teams in the Big Ten at one point i think. And they beat Michigan State and Purdue in the conference tournament. I thought MSU should have gotten regardless of the result today but the lack of marquee wins screwed them.
