I have reserved a team in Allen world for next season beginning on March 22nd. How active is this world compared to, say, Wooden world which claims to have the best D-III competition? Also, if moving from one world to another, does a coach's resume follow him?

Thanks,

kbingham

This world is pretty active, but more people use D3 as a stepping stone to get to D2/D1 in this world than Wooden, where D3 is the destination.

This is good and bad. Wooden will be really hard for a new coach to succeed at D3,while in Allen it will be easier, and then once you are ready for more human compeition you move to D2.

Resume's don't transfer.

There are some full D3 conferences (Capital, North Atlantic), a lot of full D2 conferences, and then 10-12 full D1 conferences. Its a good world to join if your final goal is not to stay at D3 forever but to move to D2/D1. Looking, it seems like D3 averages 5 humans a conference, D2 is more full maybe 7, and D1 is probably about 8. (Out of 12).

Completely full worlds are rough cause for every 25-1 team that is happy there is a 1-25 team. When worlds are 2/3 full its nice since mostly the humans are in the top half. Mostly.

I think D2 and D1 are WAY more fun because of the increase in battling for recruits cause you have more money, and its more fun to beat Kentucky to get to the sweet 16 than it is to beat Moravian.

What school did you apply to?

I have reserved Univ. Chicago for season 40. I'm a midwestern guy, grew up near Chicago, graduated from Indiana, and would like to keep my teams in the midwest. I'd love to make it to a big ten school eventually. I'd never consider taking a job in the SEC. Never! The advise that you gave is good. Currently I'm in Wooden World coaching Swarthmore (3-1). However, after the season I'll concentrate on my team in Allen World, and leave the Swarthmore job. Will my resume follow me into Allen World?

Thanks!

It won't follow you into Allen at all - you'll start as a first-year coach in Allen. I'm a Chicago (city, not school, I'm an NU fan) guy myself, and reinsel's from Wisconsin, so if you make it to the Big Ten, maybe we'll see you there someday.

Speaking of which - reinsel, be warned, a Big Ten job is open but you'd have to be a Wolverine.

Kbingham, here's U of C's current profile - let me know by sitemail if you have any questions.

Kbingham, you can't go wrong getting advice from these two. Welcome to Allen.

Well, you are going to suck for a year or 2 at Chicago, but with so many open you should be good in 2 years. Schedule relatively light your first year to get some wins with your 5 sophomore starting lineup.
