I have a pitcher I need to assign to the Bigs, but dont have the roster space.

I also have a pitcher that is on the DL for 19 HBD's, then he'll be released.

Could I let the one pitcher sit in limbo for the 19 cycles? Or will I have to assign him in a certain amount of time?
