do players usually slow way down if you call them up early? are there any certain categories that stop improving?

Players don't stop developing because you promote them to ML; they stop developing (actually, they just slow down a lot) because they've got 4-5 years of pro experience by the time they reach the majors. Your guy is pretty close to his projections (if they're accurate) - if he can help the ML team I'd promote him. Any further development he's gonna get he'll still get at ML level.

right now i am 74-53 i am tied for the #1 wild card. my pitching is pretty good , my hitting isn't bad but just got shut out for the 8th time, it hurts when you lose 2-0 and your starting pitcher gives up 1 run...

I'll just use contact as the guideline.

Player 1. Improved 5,7,6 each season. Not sure what you're expecting.

Player 2. Improved 10 and 7. Again, not sure what you expect to happen.
