Playing Time:Stamina Topic

Does anyone for certain if there is a relationship between playing time expected and stamina?

For example, C has 48 STAM with little improvement expected. Decent other ratings so he could serve as a 4-yr backup at best or the emergency 5th post man for certain. But if he's going to be complaining come his JR year that he should be getting 10-11 minutes a game then it's not worth it.

I just wonder how player's anticipated playing time is decided and if it is related to stamina at all?

i don't think the kids take into account their poor stamina. Sophs want 7-8, Jrs. want 12-13 regardless of ST ratings. Wtih a 48, I think he'll get winded on the way to midcourt to check in. If you run press, then look out, getting those 12-13 minutes, esp. from a backup position, just might be a challenge, imo.

with that stamina, he was probably not going to contribute much. honestly, you would always be better off taking a walk on than taking a guy you think will be a backup at best as an upperclassmen, even if you have multiple walkons for the next season. the only way i would recruit a career backup if he was supposed to be the 6th man and a critical part of your offense (top 2 leading scorers or so), but you would probably never start him (in a big class, with defense you aren't really willing to start, for example). iq is important, but 1 season between 2 players is not that drastic. by tournament time, you are usually looking at less than 1 grade between a freshman and a sophmore, and it only gets smaller from there.
