Why am I always out-rebounded? Topic

Any thoughts? Specifically Grand Valley and Florida Southern games. It makes no sense and basically cost me two games i expected and should have won. I realize i don't have a great rebounding team but I am significally better than both of those teams and have a solid ath rating.

What are your defensive settings? Are you guarding inside or outside? What are your offensive and defensive systems?

Good question. I typically have been running a -1 or -2 in DEF setting. I also run a Triangle offense with full court press Def.

You are starting a guard with a reb of 15 at the 3 spot, and your only sf on the roster has a reb under 20.

I might switch my starter at 3 to one of your guards with a higher ath. or use a pf with good passing at the sf backup spot.This may not cure the problem, but worth a shot.

he doesn't have a PF with good passing...only 1 on roster is his starting PF, and has PA of 1. Starting center players very few minutes, due to stamina, so gets few rebs...

Also the press is possibly the lowest of the defenses as far as rebounding. The constant doubles tend to take men out of position, and like nbstowman pointed out, you only have good rebounders at two positions, so if those guys are on the shooter, you aren't going to have anyone to bang in to get those boards.

As long as you're running the press you should expect to be out rebounded unless you put a team on the court that is head & shoulders above your opponent (in reb., of course). You just have to hope you make up for it in steals and forced turnovers.

The teams you lost to may not have had individuals that are rated as highly as your PFs/Cs, but they had much better rebounders at the SF and G positions and were playing at home. Still, it does hurt to get out boarded by a 3-2 zone. I'd chalk it up to it not being your night for the RNG.
