I'm considering going after this player, who is on the free agent market http://whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=1634405

my training for this season is 20 and I'll be leaving it at that. With his make up being 92, which I think effects how quickly a player has their ratings drop (might be wrong on that) is he worth going after, and can my training keep him close to his current ratings....he's asking for a 3 year contract at 7.3 mil per season. I know it could go higher if I get into a bidding war....but...the age thing has me concerned, he'll be 37 when the contract is done....

thanks in advance for any help with this.

He has yet to see any drop in his "skill" ratings, with only a marginal drop in his relevant "raw" ratings. High makeup and high training should help stave off decline.

He'll lose some skill rating points, but not enough to make him worthless by end of contract, and perhaps not even enough to make him overpaid at $7.3M. An injury would wipe him out pretty quick, but with 90 health, that's less of a concern.

If you are really that concerned about it, I'd suggest a team/mutual option for the final season, but realistically I'd expect that to be more useful for a 4th season, because even if he isn't demanding it, that guy is good enough that someone will offer it to him.

The guy has held his ratings remarkably well throughout his career. The only dropoff is in VEL. I agree with zbrent. I would not be reluctant to sign him if you are a contender. If you have a poor team and are rebuilding, this may not be the type of guy you are looking for.

If I needed this guy to win now, I wouldn't hesitate (knowing that by year 3, he may be marginal). If he's the difference-maker you need, you're just paying the cost by having a contract in Y3. And if his ratings hold in Y1 and possibly Y2, the total contract would be worth it to me.

tark, one of the other owners in the league got him, I couldn't swing my 3rd year in the contract to get him. Budget restrictions in player payroll. I agree silent, great player for the hear an now, hense me interested in him.
