Does a players spot in the lineup effect his performance? I have always been curious to this question and I have been documenting my '86 Tim Raines and here's what happened....
I had Luis Castillo leading off to start the season, Raines batting second. Raines started off extremely so but worked his way up to batting .296, .354, .419 after about 90-100 games.
I then switched them and Raines exploded batting in the #1 spot going 116/218 for a .532 BA.
Castillo on the other hand has been consistent at both spots, and didnt notice anything drastic when I moved him to the #2 spot. Raines's stats to date are .333, .390, .484 with a few games . Anyone have any input or stats to go along with this theory? Im sure it was just coincidence, but im curious to see if anyone else has any input.
