promoting too quickly? Topic

I have seen people say that it is possible to promote a minor leaguer too quickly. Is there any evidence of this? I don't mean promotingto get to the majors. I only mean within the minor leagues.

As long as the player is getting good coaching and ample playing time then it doesn't really matter what level he is at. You can't really promote a guy too quickly.

i promote slowly simply because if a guy is sitting in AAA for too long I get antsy... plus, i like keeping all of my levels competitive to help get more at bats and playoff starts...

"They" say lots of stupid stuff.

It's usually better when "they" is a named source who can then be argued with. When "they" say anything, it's pretty tough to counter because "they" are just so damned smart.

Except when "they" are not. Like now.

So if I draft a guy out of college and he is close to ready, I can put him straight in AA, and promote him to AAA next year?
Then maybe put him in the majors 20+ days into the next season...and there would be no downside?

No. Just try to avoid leaving players at one level for an extended period. They seem to stagnate when you do that. Of course, all my blockages are in AAA and they're 3-4 year pros so maybe they stagnated because they were thru with development.
