I was wondering if some of the veteran players might take a look at my team (Brooklyn/CUNY conference) and give me some advice on gameplanning, and perhaps give me an idea on how competitive I should expect to be this upcoming season. Thanks

Decks, you are going to struggle this year. There is no way around it. You just don't have the talent to compete with most teams. Your SR PG, SG and C however have some fairly good ATH and/or SP numbers. They should get the majority of your distro. I would set them to be taking at least 75% of your shots to be honest b/w the 3 of them. I would also not shoot hardly any 3s this year. You do not have the PER ratings to be consistent. The rest of the team is going to struggle to score. With only 3 upperclassmen it will be very difficult for you. So many factors play into this game and it will take your team about 3 years to get consistently good with the right recruiting.

I would recommend looking at the teams with B prestige consistently and higher and see the type of players they recruit. Then model your recruiting after them. You will notice some similarities in what the consistent coaches look for in regards to ATH/SP/DEF/REB/PER/LP/BH/PASS and see which attributes each coach looks for in a specific position. In this game, I think recruiting is the most important aspect as you can't consistently win without the more talented team. Finding the perfect combination is the tough part. There is a wealth of info on the HD forums as well to get you started and feel free to post here or sitemail me with any more questions.

looking at it again, all your guards are fairly good so I would definitely go with a shorter/quicker team this year and hope your press generates plenty of TOs. Your biggest issue I see is rebounding as you are going to really be outrebounded all year. I would almost say to just go at least -3 every game b/c of the disadvantage you will have.

Were you able to see the freshmen I recruited? I've been looking at the forums, but I discovered some information after I had already recruited. If I could do it again, I would have made a few changes. But I got a halfway decent center, a PF who can reb and has a decent per. and an athletic shooting guard. You think they can contribute a little either spot starting or off the bench?
(thanks for the help already, by the way.)

I typically give freshman hardly any distribution. Reason being is their IQs are way too low to be consistent. They may have a good game or 2 but overall, they are going to struggle if they get too much distro. Your SG has very good SP/ATH combo and good PER rating. He is going to struggle though due to the very low BH rating for a SG. BH is important in being a scorer in this game. He does have decent SP/ATH though and that could make him ok freshmen year but I wouldn't give him too much distro. Your big men have very low ATH which is important for them but 2 have pretty good REB #s.

Basically, it's just really hard to get good consistent play from D3 freshmen. I usually never give much distro until they at least have a B IQ which won't come for most until sophomore year. That's why I would go heavy on those 3 seniors you have this year and start trying to build and pick up even better recruits next year.

Ya I didn't notice the lack of athleticism in my bigs until recently...
Thanks for the advice, I'll play with it this season as much as I can since I'll probably be losing anyhow. Thanks

i would recommend trying something for 6-7 game stretches or so and see what works and what doesn't. Then just read a lot of the material on here in the HD forums. Some things that helped me starting are Oldresorters guide for new coaches and lostmyths FAQ section in there. Also, check this forum for red's recruit rankings and look at what the top D3 recruits look like. Although you won't be able to get them at first, you will once you build up the prestige and you can at least see the types of players to target.

I will do so. Thanks.

Welcome, decks. You remind me why I started playing this game. Good luck.
