In terms of recruiting, if you are in a battle with someone who is further away from you...Is there an advantage as to money v. visits?

Ie does the closer team get a benefit from being able to pump in more visits for less money or does it work the other way where it is all about total money?

Yes.

10 home vists that cost 300 are just as "valuable" as 10 home visits that cost $800 each in terms of recruiting effort.

So the closer school does have a big advantage....but be aware, the distance/cost relationship is not linear.

It is about contact.. 1 visit = 1 visit no matter where it comes from..
The closer school will get more value for its buck since it will be able to afford more contacts
