Should I Re-Sign Him? Topic

I'm very short in pitching for the upcoming season (currently only 4 SP's and possibly 1 reliever). I have 2 RP's that are heading into FA and I have an opportunity to re-sign them both. However, there are some pretty delicious RP's in the FA pool and I've got approximately $25 Million to spend.

Would you take your chances on a bidding war in the FA market or go the conservative route by re-signing one or both of these slightly above average RP's?:

C.C. Crede
Asking for 2-years $4.6 Mil

and

Martin Baek
Asking for 1-year $4.2 Mil

Oh yeah, both Crede and Baek are Type-B's which is why I'm hesitant to pull the trigger.

I would sign Crede and put Baek on the free agent market.

I wouldn't resign either of them, Crede doesn't have good pitch ratings, and has a 50 for health about to be on the wrong end of 30. Baek is fading fast and you could probably get better for the money you'd spend on him. if you have better alternatives in FA go after those.

I'd sign Baek. Crede's pitch quality is awful, so I'd let him go.

I wound up signing Baek since he would only tie up 1-year worth of salary for me. Someone else signed Crede and I wound up getting the #45 overall pick. Not too shabby.
