If you have been offered back a rule 5 player that was drafted from your team and you accept him does go on to your big league squad or can you assign him to any level in the organization?

I know when you draft a rule 5 he has to go on the big league team, just not sure about when you accept one back....

Any level. He has to clear waivers to get back to you in the first place.

Yes, he has cleared waivers, and I'm now at the choice of either decline or accept back the rule 5 player. If I accept back, does he get put on my major league roster? I can't find any info on that type of transaction.....he's good enough to help my AAA team but I don't want him if my only choice in taking him back is to put him on my Major league team.

You can put him at any level

You can assign him to your AAA team but he will take up a spot on your 40 man roster and his salary will be pro rated off of $327K for the remaining part of the year.

Why does the original team have to pay his new ML salary? This seems bogus. The team that drafted him but then gave up on him should be responsible for the salary.
