If a guy has .009 ML Service Time (and no games played at the ML level), how many games should I wait before promoting him to avoid a year of arb? 29?

Is .009 * 162 = 1.5 games? So I only have to wait 22 games?

I believe that means number of days at the major league level.

I usually wait until about game 40 to promote high quality minor leaguers to the big show as I believe anything prior to game 35 or 36 qualifies as a full season.

I am unsure how this works if he was called up prior. I believe I would in your case wait until about game 48 or 50 to delay arbitration as long as possible

Yes, you're right about the calculation. The number appears to be exact number of days at the BL level, including off days and days not in the lineup. WIS shouldn't show it as a fraction - that's confusing. I think, however, that 20 games is all you have to miss to promote and avoid a year of arb.

I wait 25 just to be safe.

The player in question has been on a ML roster for 9 days. You have to wait 20 minor league days to promote to avoid a serivce year. Which is typically 22 games into the ML season.

Therefore for your specific player you need to wait 22 game + 9 game or approx. 31 games.
