I'm in Wooden, so I haven't experienced the joys and pains for a post-engine change DII recruiting phase.

Are dropdowns still happening?  When I search for DII level guys, quite a few players appear who would've been considered DI talent in the past before dropping down.

Yes, dropdowns still happen as before

Two things:

1) Like Al says, dropdowns are definitely still happenning

2) There are actually players in the DII search now that are worth recruiting for elite level DII teams, which is something that had not happened for a long time

Also, I've found that you can basically disregard what you've been using in regards to DI player rankings when it comes to pulldowns/dropdowns. The bottom level DI players are worse now, so as a DII coach you can shoot higher than before. I could have signed a 97th ranked freshmen SF at an A+ DII school, but decided not to sign a SF.

That is interesting. I had noticed that the D1 drop downs I was going after in Crum didn't seem as good. I didn't think about aiming higher. That will be good to try with my Allen team since I expect to have an A prestige when recruiting happens.

Have other people noticed this with the old ranking system for who will be a pulldown/dropdown going out the window? Recruiting starts in Allen soon and I don't want to waste a full cycle going after players of higher rankings now only to be rejected by them all, but also don't want to call everyone from 95-200 just to be sure I have people accepting calls.

You could just call every 10th one....like #100, #110, etc.  to get a gauge as to what's available to you
