Hello,
I just moved up to D1, I was succesful as a D2 coach and pretty good at recruiting there. I understand that recruiting at this level is more difficult. But I was just wondering if anyone would be kind enough to give me some overall pointers. As in, is it better to kind of wait closer to the signing period to start going after people, or should I jump on people immediately? I went after people after the first cycle this time and was in one battle with two guys considering me, two cycles before signing, a team from my conference completely stole one of my guys. Is that a good strategy? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

First, I learned the hard way that taking players from other schools in your own conference isn't the smartest thing to do, but I have had success taking recruits from schools outside my conf. late in recruiting.
Also, I believe you would be better off picking 1-2 players that you feel like you have a legit shot at and go after them hard from the beginning.

Go for recruits you know you can get, don't go for bigger fish than you think you should be, look at similar teams, don't become emotionally attached to any 1 player, and most importantly... HAVE FUN!
