new defensive setup option Topic

i think we need the option to run a dual defense where we select when to run it. Why i say this is the press is deadly with lower classmen so here is the pitch. You say your base defense like the press and then you add the second defense m2m when you have less than 4 or 3 or 2 starters on the floor, or less than X number of players with at least b- in that defense. That way when you starters are in they will press and when your subs are in they will play m2m.

so what do you guys think?

Not a bad idea. The concept of training a part of a team to run a different defense to change the rhythm of a game is a good one.

I love this as this is exactlt what I do with my real life team.  Now I just need my assistant to sit and drink coffee with me in the morning as I make my gameplan, and beg me to try the 1-2-2

heck, this is what I have done with the rec league kids team that I coach - its not seniors, but when I am able to rotate the 3 or 4 of the stronger players onto the floor together we run a 1-2-2 press - at full or 3/4 court and then fall back into a zone - when we have too many of the weaker kids on the floor we pull back and just run the zone

I like the idea for HD because it would create interesting dynamic of depth chart and game plan working together

on the other hand, it seems hard to define when the different game plans would go active - it would be complex unless you just said something very clear like "when starting lineup is in the game" or something....

ya my thought was you said x out of the 5 starters or x out of the 5 players have a b- or higher in iq. I use the b- because most people feel this is when players play up to their ratings in the defense it would seem.
