Why so many fouls? Topic

The player in question is Timothy Brown, a sophomore SF who has a B defensive IQ and a defense rating of 44. However, this season it seems he has been fouling the crap out of opposing SFs, sending them to the foul line way to often and getting into frequent foul trouble. You can look at the box scores, but I play a normally minus man defense.

I'm particularly frustrated with the most recent game against Utica, in which he fouled out and sent an extremely poor opposing offensive SF to the foul line for 10 shots and 17 points. Overall, I got outscored by 26 in the second half after leading a tight one at the half in a game I hoped to win.

I just can't seem to get a read this season on what I am doing wrong in this new engine (other than the youth of my team). All three pressing teams I have faced this year my players have simply handed my opponents the ball, then let them shoot freely on the other end; especially my senior SF Brian Mayer who I demoted to backup but has still averaged 4.2 TO's this season, including 10, 5 & 8 TO's against pressing teams. I guess the point of this post is to get out some of the frustrations of my teams this year. I really overscheduled a young team, but also i feel a lot of my players are underperforming, especially defensively.

Brown is averaging 2.2 fouls/ game which isn't bad.  In your 9 games, he's fouled out twice and received 4 fouls in another game.   The problem in the Utica game was likely his opponents ATH 70 and SP 63.  Brown just couldn't keep up with him defensively.   I didn't look at the other games to see if there was a pattern.

I'm also not sure why you're having him shoot 12 times/game.
