Why the Hell are top tier d1 coaches going at high end d2 freshman? Duke should never recruit a d2 player....florida should never recruit a d2 player....unless its to even out the classes with a transfer or juco recruit....but now they are picking over d2 for what they want...

What is wrong with that? Some of the div II guys I have signed I wouldn't mind getting cheaply, redshirting them and then use them when they are closed to maxed out for the last 2 years of the career. I have a few guards who started out with solid cores  + ath/speed/def and have high in ath/speed/def/bh/passing/per. If they could land em for 1000, why not go for it so they got more money to get the real fish?

joco - I had my eye on 4 guys who d2 teams were on with my A+ d1 UConn team in tark, in the end, I passed as my primary targets worked out, but I would be surprised if what you describe is not going to be commonplace, unless recruit generation gets changed somehow - recruiting in d1 appears to be fun for some, not so much fun for others, but the real question is how fair will it turn out to be in 3-4 seasons when most teams are populated with rosters full of impotent players - time will tell

again as always you are correct oldresorter some seasons down the road it will come back on them

in d1 tark, i sometimes recruit a d2 senior instead of taking a walk-on.

There are guys on D2 teams who by their junior and senior years look like they could start on the majority of D1 teams. You often see the top D2 teams having guards with high 90 speed, 90s per and 80s/90s bh/pass. I have a big on my D2 Bryant team that I wouldn't mind having on my West Virginia team, 86ath/30sp/99reb/87D/88blk/68LP, a B free throw shooter and he's a junior. I mean it's not like all the guys that are available to D2 teams can't do well in D1. I once cut a guy from that Bryant team and he got picked up by a D1 team and averaged double digit points as a senior.

The battles at D1 are brutal, sometimes you decide to pass on a battle to get a guy for cheap and have some carryover money so you can engage in battles in future seasons.

I see a lil clearer on this subject but man after the first day of signings in d2 the quality of recruits dries up alot quicker under the new engine.....

Yup, D2 recruiting is definitely a bit more like D1 now, you have to jump on guys early or it's going to be hard to get guys.

A+ D2 schools are seeing Big 6 Conference schools going on their players. Cores and potential are what they are, regardless of level.

I'm sure it's all in the potential, especially with the new recruit generation. I almost landed a stud PG this past recruiting season in DIII (ended up signing with another DIII program) with good initial ratings and WE and high potential in every category but rebounding and shot blocking who should have been a top DII prospect but was listed as DIII when recruiting began.

Or perhaps it won't seem so brutal once people stop expecting recruits like the old ones and start looking at the new field instead./
